Editorial
The time for deconfinement has arrived, and life begins again. We hope that you'll all be able to set off again, full of projects and strengthened by the hope that gives us resources. Solidarity between alumni will, of course, continue, but we will now move forward on the road out of the crisis. We'd be delighted to hear any positive stories you may have to share with us, to help inform a future issue of our magazine. Write to us at: icam.liaisons@ingenieurs-icam.fr
Our association's Board of Directors met by videoconference on Saturday May 16. It was a great opportunity to exchange views (particularly with young people), clarify matters (on the bylaws and accounts) and prepare for the future (with the budget, the creation of an economic interest group - which we discuss in this issue - and our contribution to the Group's strategic plan). In the next few weeks, you will receive the agenda for the Extraordinary General Meeting to amend the Articles of Association: to integrate the international associations of Icam engineers, while respecting their autonomy and culture, and to redefine the mission and term of office of the directors (2 years renewable). This EGM will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020, and will be followed by our ordinary AGM in Paris. A great moment of conviviality to come. The Association recently contacted you to help our students find internships, as Covid 19 has led to cancellations. More than ever, we need to show our solidarity in order to offer students these experiences in the workplace, which are an integral part of their curriculum. All French sites are affected, bearing in mind that the apprenticeship engineering course has been severely hit, and that the company's commitment is for 3 years. Please do not hesitate to contact us. For the class of 2020, the association is working with the schools to find ways of supporting our young graduates as they embark on their professional lives. A working group is currently being set up. Join us to contribute your ideas and concrete actions to be developed locally.
The UN has decided to make access to water a fundamental right, and it's an essential issue in the context of global warming. That's why we've chosen Water as the theme for our Dossier. Water is an indispensable common good that will drive mankind to innovate, invest, treat and recycle. Alumni testimonials are numerous and rich. We all need to succeed if life is to be possible for the world's 10 billion inhabitants in 2050. Our focus is on the Nordic countries. This destination is often cited as an example, and we wanted to analyze its specific features. With the help of the CGE survey, we analyze how young graduates are starting out in their professional lives. In "School Life", you'll find out why the creation of an "Icam Economic Interest Group" will help us finance our major projects, and how a Pedagogical and Digital Innovation unit contributes to pedagogical continuity. Our chaplain helps us to gain perspective on politics and our necessary commitment to the community. We're also expanding our "Portrait of a leader" and "Icam entrepreneur" sections. These are fine testimonials from committed Icam employees who shed light on our path. The President of the Féron-Vrau Foundation sheds much-needed light on our projects, and their progress, which requires a series of meetings and educational activities. Finally, a Jesuit Icam shows us that technology is present in Africa against the Covid 19, and our former President Jean-Yves Le Cuziat takes us on an adventure far from here.
This issue of our magazine includes little advertising. The health crisis has put most activities on hold, and has prevented us from fulfilling our promises of integration. Société EDIF will be moving forward again, and we thank you for welcoming them to finance the development of our association. We thank you all for your active role in relaying the association, in liaison with your promotion delegates and regional managers.
