Visit the Mobilier National

Organised by "IDF & Centre Province"

Formerly the Garde meubles de la Couronne, then the Mobilier Impérial, since 1604 the Mobilier National has been furnishing places of power, from royal residences to today's Elysée Palace. Over the years, the Mobilier National collection has grown steadily, and today boasts over 130,000 objects.

Come and enjoy a guided tour of this monument to French culture on Thursday February 6 at 7.30pm. As soon as you enter, our tour guide will introduce you to the building designed specifically by architect Perret to provide the space and climatic conditions required for furniture conservation.

Admire hundreds of prestigious pieces of furniture from a variety of periods and styles. You'll see objects that were used by France's most important leaders, kings, emperors and presidents (the desks of presidents V. Auriol, V. Giscard d'Estaing, F. Mitterrand).

We'll be able to discover the active reserve, where we'll find collectible fabrics, velvet trimmings and active fabrics still in use today. Our guide will explain the various missions of the Mobilier National, including that of the research and creation workshop, which promotes contemporary creation and design.
